Yangzhou - Wenchang GeJiangsu - Lianyungang - Nanjing - Suzhou - Wuxi - Yangzhou - ZhenjiangWenchang Ge (Pavilion of Flourishing Culture) is a mini Temple of Heaven, dedicated to the god of literary success. It is 3 strays high and took 10 years to build, just before completion it burnt down, only to be immediately rebuilt in 1585. Originality situated on a bridge across a canal, the area was transformed into a wide roadway, so Wenchang Ge now stands at the intersection of WenheJie and ShitaJie. Nearby is the Stone Pagoda (Shi Ta), a highly valued Tang dynasty relic. Its 6 sides are decorated with floral patterns. |
